DIY photo on wood – the best gift idea for Father’s Day 2018
For these easy instructions you need the following materials:
- old wooden box
- Printed photo – we have worked in the manual with a photo from marriages. The most important thing is to get the photo out with a laser printer.
- Sponge cloth and water
- a transparent adhesive (matt)
- plastic card
- abrasive paper
Step 1: Sand the surface of the box lid with sandpaper so that the result is optimal.
Step 2: This is the most important step in this DIY guide and determines the outcome. The choice of the adhesive is very important. The consistency should be like a moisturizer.
When applying the adhesive you should pay attention to how much glue is applied to the surface of the cover!
Too much = the photo will peel off easily
Too little = the photo is not glued
Step 3: Apply the adhesive to the surface of the lid with the brush. Make sure you stroke one direction because the brushstrokes will be visible later.
Step 4: Put a box with a cover on the photo after the photo and on it pressure on it.
Step 5: Wait 5 minutes and return the box with high attention.
Step 6: Do not worry about small bubbles forming.
Step 7: Under light pressure, make up all bubbles with the sponge cloth.
Step 8: If the whole surface is smooth, allow the adhesive to dry for at least 12 hours. Best – 24 hours. If you are impatient, you can also blow-dry.
Step 9: When the glue has dried, we can continue with the instructions. Put a wet sponge cloth on the photo for 1/2 minutes.
Step 10: Remove the wet cloth.
Step 11: Now you can see the picture out of focus.
Step 12: Rub away the wet part and the picture becomes clearer.
Step 15: To guarantee long life of your creation, paint the lids.
Step 16: Let the paint dry under the night.
The endlook: A beautiful wooden box in rustic style and personality!
