Hello, dear craft fans and welcome to our craft laboratory! The laundry basket does not fit as a gift on any occasion, but is a necessity for every household. But the laundry baskets in shops look colorless and boring. Bring color to life with our idea for a pretty and colorful basket for laundry. Do you have hands for crafts and sewing? Then you would easily do this tinkering task. Roll up your sleeves and go straight to IKEA. In the following we show you what you need and how you can easily make a laundry basket from the stool itself.
This is how it goes with the instructions for laundry basket
This tutorial is especially well-suited to everyone, whether you have proximity skills or are just a beginner. Get inspired by this IKEA hack and make a beautiful basket that is not only a stylish laundry basket but also a practical storage basket. Underneath is the list of necessary materials so you can build a stylish laundry basket yourself.
- a stool from IKEA (The price is about 10 Euro)
- 4 small rolls from IKEA
- 6 screws to fix the rollers (pay attention to how many screws the rollers need)
- Felt with the measures – 136 x 80 cm
- battery Strauber
- Pen that fits to work with felt
Step 1: Fasten the rollers
Step 2: The felt is cut with 7 incisions 17 cm apart and 16 cm deep.
Step 3: Make the felt in the form of a basket
You need a bit more explanations for this step. First, roll up the left and right side of the felt (the short sides), that’s what your basket utensil looks like at the end, but now it’s about to be attached (as shown in the photo). Using the punch, punch some holes in the felt. The holes should be punched out with a few centimeters distance.
Step 4: Now the rivets are used.
Now the rivets are inserted and hammered firmly with the hammer.
Step 5: Folding
The top edge folds outwards, letting your basket give a nice look. The bottom of the basket is simply made – just fold the cut pieces over each other.
Step 6: Place the felt in the holder
Congrats, your laundry basket is ready! Look at our gallery to get inspired. We wish you a lot of fun crafting!
