Which bed types are best for self-construction? In addition to box spring beds, bunk beds and water beds you can of course make a single bed yourself. 12 wooden boards 110 x 10 x 1 cm and 12 wooden boards 220 x 10 x 1 cm;

2 boards 110 x 15 x 1 cm and 2 boards 220 x 15 x 1 cm;

28 wooden blocks 5 x 5 x 5;

4 round rods with 1 cm diameter and 4 wooden balls with 3 cm diameter;

How can you build a bed yourself?

First of all, think well about the space requirements! He focuses on the design of the bed. In general, the bed should be 20 to 30 centimeters longer, so you feel good!

The highlight of this bed is that the individual components are threaded onto the rods. Above all, it is about pre-drilling boards and wooden blocks. Pierce wooden blocks exactly in the middle completely! Holes on the boards work! Each board should have a hole on each side. Holes are measured from the outer edges 4.5 cm inwards. As a result, the boards later protrude 2.5 cm beyond the wooden blocks. Drill the wood balls in a nutshell! Drill hole only about 1 cm deep! All holes are done!

Start with the construction of the bed! Put the four round bars in four blocks and put these blocks in the appropriate place in the room! Thread two long boards for the short sides of the bed onto the round bars. Thread two long boards at right angles for the long sides of the bed!

Now four wooden blocks, two short boards and again two long boards follow! Assemble bed frame! Combine the head and foot sections as well as the sides with the bed connector to the bed frame! These are helix angles with short leg lengths and a large overall height. Position the fittings so that always the long leg with the short side and the short leg with the long side are screwed!

After the third or fourth wooden blocks thread 15 cm wider boards! These boards continue to protrude into the bed inside, so that the support for the slatted frame is created. Sand wooden surface! First, break all edges and sandpaper them to create a small chamfer! The visible surfaces with the grinder always in the direction of the wood grain with coarser and then with finer sandpaper! Water surfaces with a sponge! Attention: When drying, loose wood fibers are occasionally found, which you then gently remove with 180 grit sandpaper! Wood is ready for surface treatment!

Stain surfaces! Pickling is about dyeing wood! Apply stain with a fine spray system! By painting the wood gets its surface protection! When building your own bed and processing the bed, it is recommended that you work in a well-ventilated room and avoid smoking, eating and drinking!

Paint surfaces! Fill the paint container in the paint container and dilute with a little water! Apply the first layer of lacquer thinly! Start with the edges and then paint the surfaces!
